County Coordinator

The County Coordinator’s responsibilities include building strategic relationships, conducting a variety of outreach activities, recruiting Agripreneurs, and strengthening relations with the ecosystem partners and stakeholders.

Regional Manager

The Regional Manager’s responsibilities include building strategic relationships, conducting a variety of outreach activities, supervising County Co-ordinators activities and strengthening relation with the Ecosystem Partners & Stakeholders.

Digital Champion

The Digital Champion is a flexitime position. The Digital Champion reports to the project management office (PMO) and is responsible for providing Emotional, Functional & Technical support to the Agripreneurs.
County Coordinator

Position Summary

Inadequate farmer income and increasing youth unemployment continue to plague Kenya and the current solutions are largely unsustainable. The Agripreneur program takes a holistic, long-term approach and offers comprehensive services to farmers through local rural youth acting as agricultural entrepreneurs to create employment for rural youth, increase farmers’ income and foster local agricultural development.

The County Coordinator is a full-time position. The County Coordinator reports to the project management office (PMO) and is responsible for the outreach, recruitment & supervision of Agripreneur activity in the county.

The County Coordinator’s responsibilities include building strategic relationships, conducting a variety of outreach activities, recruiting Agripreneurs and strengthening relation with the ecosystem partners and stakeholders.

1. Create and implement an outreach plan

2. Recruit & provide supervision & support to the Agripreneurs activities

3. Develop and strengthen relationships between the county government, Agripreneurs & smallholder farmer community

4. Develop partnerships with ecosystem partners & stakeholders (input companies, dealers & distributors, off takers, service providers etc), social groups and community organizations, in particular those that provide linkages to the Agripreneurs & smallholder farmers

5. Build relationships, as well as connecting people with skills, tools, and networks

6. Amplify the stories and lived experiences of people in the communities

1. Bachelor’s Degree in agriculture or any other Science

2. Strong community engagement/ extension/ agriculture experience

3. Excellent public speaking and presentation skills

4. Ability to meet deadlines and adjust to changing priorities

5. Effective communication skills, both verbally and written

6. Networking and relationship building skills

7. Commitment to serve the interests of smallholder farmers

8. Strong time management and organisational skills

9. Report writing and record keeping skills

10. Digital Literacy

*Prior Experience in NARIGP/ KCSAP Programs would be an added advantage

The Regional Manager’s responsibilities include building strategic relationships, conducting a variety of outreach activities, supervising County Co-ordinators activities, and strengthening relation with the Ecosystem Partners & Stakeholders.

1. Directly responsible for the implementation of the Agripreneur program at the regionallevel

2. Mentor & Monitor County Coordinators & provide line management support

3. Mentor & Guide Agripreneurs & Communities in building and strengthening a productive environment

4. Manage relationships between the County Government, Agripreneurs & smallholder farmer community

5. Onboard ecosystem partners & stakeholders (input companies, dealers & distributors, off takers, service providers etc), social groups and community organizations, in particular those that provide linkages to the Agripreneurs & smallholder farmers

6. Manage relationships, as well as connecting people with skills, tools and networks

7. Amplify the stories and lived experiences of people in the communities

1. Bachelor’s Degree in agriculture or any other Science

2. At least 5 years of work experience in Agriculture sector (preferred)

3. Strong community engagement/ extension/ agriculture experience

4. Excellent public speaking and presentation skills

5. Ability to meet deadlines and adjust to changing priorities

The Digital Champion’s responsibilities include building strong relationship with the Agripreneurs, conducting a variety of outreach activities to engage, train & encourage Agripreneurs to complete their Incubation.

1. Mentor, aid and assist Agripreneurs with digital literacy, understanding and digital access

2. Engage Agripreneurs on a periodic (daily/ weekly/ monthly) basis, either in person or by digital means, to help them access digital devices and programs/ apps etc

3. Help to build Agripreneurs confidence and self-esteem in using digital technology

4. Keep a record of the work, fill out and submit various documentation as required

5. Safeguard the interests of the Agripreneurs, Organization, and the digital policy at all times

6. Gather feedback from Agripreneurs and document the same through compiling periodic reports, and attending regular staff meetings

7. Amplify the stories and lived experiences of people in the communities

1. Strong community engagement/ extension/ agriculture experience

2. Excellent inter-personal skills

3. Excellent Digital skills esp. with Android devices

4. Must be flexible in work hours and be available at times that suit the Agripreneurs(including weekends)

5. Effective communication skills, both verbally and written

6. Ability to connect with others and develop relationships

7. Patient, Friendly & Diligent while guiding Agripreneurs or solving their challenges
