Position

County Manager

KUZA, a private sector social enterprise/BCorp, uses business as a force for good to drive systems change at scale in the food and agriculture sector with digital and youth at front and center. KUZA enrolls rural youth as members of its OneNetwork (a curated digital ecosystem platform), provides incubation services and graduates them  as Agripreneurs by equipping them with the knowledge, tools and a network to connect with service providers to earn sustainable livelihoods.

We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven County Manager to oversee all aspects of the Kuza Agripreneur program within the county. The County Manager will be responsible for managing county operations, recruiting and mentoring Agripreneurs, building strategic relationships with stakeholders, and conducting outreach activities to promote agricultural development and entrepreneurship.

Responsibilities:

  • County Operations Management: Oversee day-to-day operations of the Agripreneur program within the county, ensuring smooth implementation and adherence to program goals and objectives.
  • Agripreneur Recruitment and Mentoring: Lead the recruitment process to identify and select aspiring Agripreneurs, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to help them succeed in their agricultural ventures.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strategic relationships with government agencies, NGOs, community organizations, and other ecosystem partners to foster collaboration and support for the Agripreneur program.
  • Outreach and Promotion: Conduct outreach activities, including workshops, seminars, and community events, to raise awareness about the Agripreneur program and attract potential partnerships with the ecosystem partners
  • Training and Capacity Building: Coordinate training sessions, workshops, and capacity-building programs to equip Agripreneurs with the knowledge and skills needed to thrive in agriculture and agribusiness.
  • Reporting and Documentation: Prepare regular reports, updates, and documentation on program activities, progress, and outcomes for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Community Engagement: Engage with local communities to understand their needs, preferences, and challenges related to agriculture, integrating community feedback into program planning and implementation.
  • Team Leadership: Provide leadership, guidance, and support to the county team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Rural Development, or business related  field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in project management, agricultural development, entrepreneurship support. or related roles, with a focus on community engagement and stakeholder relations.
  • Strong understanding of agricultural systems, value chains, and entrepreneurship principles, particularly in the context of smallholder farming and rural development.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and networking skills, with the ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders and communities.
  • Proven leadership abilities, with experience in team management, capacity building, and mentorship.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to assess data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions to improve program outcomes.
  • Knowledge of local government structures, policies, and regulations related to agriculture and rural development.
  • Passion for agricultural development, entrepreneurship, and community empowerment.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
