Senior Government Program Manager

KUZA, a private sector social enterprise/BCorp, uses business as a force for good to drive systems change at scale in the food and agriculture sector with digital and youth at front and center. KUZA enrolls rural youth as members of its OneNetwork (a curated digital ecosystem platform), provides incubation services and graduates them  as Agripreneurs by equipping them with the knowledge, tools and a network to connect with service providers to earn sustainable livelihoods.

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Government Program Manager to lead our efforts in establishing and maintaining strong relationships with government agencies and private sector stakeholders. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to drive programs, initiatives, and policies that align with our organization’s goals and objectives. Responsibilities:

  1. Government Relations Strategy: Develop and execute comprehensive government relations strategies that support our organization’s mission and objectives.
  2. Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with key government officials, agencies, regulatory bodies at local, regional, and national levels and Private sector partners
  3. Policy Analysis and Advocacy: Monitor legislative and regulatory developments, analyze their potential impact on our organization, and advocate for policies that advance our interests.
  4. Program Development and Management: Lead the design, development, and implementation of programs and initiatives in collaboration with government & other mission aligned partners to address key societal challenges.
  5. Public Affairs and Communication: Serve as a spokesperson for our organization in interactions with government stakeholders, the media, and the public, effectively communicating our positions, initiatives, and accomplishments.
  6. Collaboration and Coordination: Foster collaboration and partnerships between our organization and government agencies, NGOs, and other stakeholders to achieve shared goals.
  7. Compliance and Regulatory Affairs: Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and government requirements, providing guidance and support to internal teams on regulatory matters.
  8. Budgeting and Resource Management: Develop and manage budgets for relation building activities, allocating resources efficiently to maximize impact.
  9. Crisis Management: Provide strategic guidance and support in managing crises or issues that may arise in relation to government relations.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Public Administration, International Relations, Law, or related field. Master’s degree is desirable.
  2. Minimum of 8 years of experience in government relations, public policy, or related roles, with a proven track record of success in engaging with government agencies and driving programs.
  3. Strong understanding of the political and regulatory landscape, with knowledge of government processes and decision-making mechanisms.
  4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  5. Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to develop and execute effective advocacy and engagement strategies.
  6. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities and deadlines with attention to detail.
  7. Experience working in or with government agencies, NGOs, or international organizations is highly desirable.
  8. Flexibility to travel and work outside normal workplace
