Position

Sub County Mentor (SCM)

KUZA, a private sector social enterprise/BCorp, uses business as a force for good to drive systems change at scale in the food and agriculture sector with digital and youth at front and center. KUZA enrolls rural youth as members of its OneNetwork (a curated digital ecosystem platform), provides incubation services and graduates them  as Agripreneurs by equipping them with the knowledge, tools and a network to connect with service providers to earn sustainable livelihoods.

We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Sub County Mentor to oversee all aspects of the Kuza Agripreneur program within the  Sub County. The Sub County Mentor will be responsible for managing sub county operations, recruiting and mentoring Agripreneurs, building strategic relationships with local stakeholders, and providing mentorship and backstopping support to Agripreneurs within the sub county..

Responsibilities:

  1. Program Oversight: Supervise the day-to-day implementation of the Agripreneur program within the sub-county, ensuring adherence to program guidelines and objectives.
  2. Agripreneur Support: Provide guidance and support to Agripreneurs in the sub-county, including mentoring, training, and resolving challenges they may encounter.
  3. Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with local government officials, community leaders, NGOs, and other stakeholders to enhance program visibility and support.
  4. Monitoring and Reporting: Implement monitoring and evaluation systems to track program progress, collect data on key performance indicators, and prepare regular reports for program management and stakeholders.
  5. Resource Management: Manage program resources effectively, including budgets, supplies, and equipment, to ensure efficient program delivery.
  6. Community Outreach: Conduct outreach activities to promote the Agripreneur program, engage with potential participants, and raise awareness about available opportunities.
  7. Capacity Building: Organize and facilitate capacity-building workshops, seminars, and training sessions for Agripreneurs and program staff to enhance their skills and knowledge in agricultural entrepreneurship.
  8. Problem-Solving: Identify challenges and bottlenecks in program implementation and develop proactive solutions to address them, collaborating with relevant stakeholders as needed.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Rural Development, business or related field. 
  2. Minimum of 3 years of experience in project management, agricultural development, entrepreneurship or related roles, with a focus on community engagement and stakeholder relations.
  3. Strong understanding of agricultural systems, value chains, and entrepreneurship principles, particularly in the context of smallholder farming and rural development.
  4. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and networking skills, with the ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders and communities.
  5. Proven leadership abilities, with experience in team management, capacity building, and mentorship.
  6. Analytical mindset with the ability to assess data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions to improve program outcomes.
  7. Knowledge of local government structures, policies, and regulations related to agriculture and rural development.
  8. Passion for agricultural development, entrepreneurship, and community empowerment.
  9. Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
